Reflecting on Collaboration: Communication
Communication
"to share" [1]
Feedback:
- All of the presentations engaged with the topic of communication and provided thorough theoretical and background information to help me further understand the different types of communication and the reasons for communication, although perhaps some tips on how to ensure positive communication would have been useful.
- All of the teams linked the topic to their projects thoroughly.
- The inclusion of different medias (speech, powerpoint and video) was interesting and kept the presentations engaging.
- Group #1 (Anthony, Lorrain, Lauren, Ben, Baz & Theodore): Video was well-done and very specific to the theme of "communication" and explored the topic in an interesting and engaging manner. The overall presentation had very solid theory and was well presented.
- Group #2 (Anthony & Marina): Some parts of the video had too much text and you couldn't read it all in time, also there were issues with the volume of sound but overall it was very comprehensive - and the shared workstation comments got a little confusing but I could see where they were going with this idea.
- Group #3 (Daniel, Kerre, Darren, Anthony & Martha): the video was very well edited however showed more of a progress report of their project (which was very good) but wasn't really relevant to "communication" as such - the renders shown in the video we're really high quality however they could of mentioned hopw these were also methods of communication (e.g. visually communicating the project to the client or end user) rather than just showing it with no connection to the theme.
Reflection and Link to Own Project:
The presentations this week allowed me to gain a more theoretical understanding of communication and it's role in projects. Communication is obviously one of the most important aspects towards a successful project. Our group has found that by having constant contact - though social media on facebook in which we can rely on any messages or comments being sent and recieved instantly we are better able to troubleshoot problems, provide feedback, ask questions and gain advice or delegate tasks. Communication has played a significant role in the planning and execution of our project thus far and will continue to do so throughout the life of the project.
We have engaged with a variety of platforms to communicate via including a facebook group, a group blog page in which each member has admin status to post and edit blog posts, shared files via google drive such as word documents and powerpoint presentations which show edits in real-time as well as our face-to-face meetings in studio tutorial time, and we also have each others contact phone numbers.
